Kareem A. Alwan, Petroleum Expert & Corrosion Consultant
Baghdad Section Chairperson
Dr. Kareem holds a Ph.D. degree in Petroleum Engineering (Horizontal Drilling) from Russian State University of Oil & Gas and a BSc, MSc of Petroleum Engineering from the University of Baghdad with more than 34 years of experience in the Oil & Gas Industry as a Petroleum Engineer and he worked for many national companies such as SOC, NOC, BOTI, PRDC, MDOC and Occupied many positions at the Iraqi Ministry of Oil including the Director Manager of Petroleum R&D Center, Deputy Director-General of RFDD, and Director of Inspector General Office of southern Iraq. Currently, he is a freelancer petroleum & corrosion expert and Asst. Prof. at Al Farabi University College, Baghdad. Dr. Alwan supervised 14 MSc thesis and was a member of the exam panel of 21 MSc and 3 Ph.D. Students.

Basim M.N Kasim, Senior Chief Engineers (Ret.)

Dr. Basim holds a Ph.D. Degree in Reservoir Engineering from Russian State University of Oil & Gas and BSc, MSc of Petroleum Engineering from the University of Baghdad with more than 30 years of experience in the Oil & Gas Industry, mostly in the Ministry of Oil – Iraq. He was a Team leader of many studies conducted at the Reservoirs and Fields Development Directorate (RFDD) and a Member of the Technical and Joint Management Committees with different IOCs. Dr. Basim was a lecturer at the University of Baghdad and he Supervised post-graduate students as well as was a member of the exam panel of several MSc and Ph.D. students’ dissertations.

Usama Al Ameedy, Academic, University of Baghdad

Mr. Usama is a Ph.D. Candidate of Petroleum Engineering from the University of Baghdad, he received his BSc, MSc of Petroleum Engineering from the University of Baghdad with more than 15 years of experience in the Oil & Gas Industry. Mr. Al Ameedy worked for Schlumberger, Weatherford, Paradigm, and Halliburton, he is Log Analyst Consultant as well as an Accredited IADC Wireline Instructor. Currently, he is an academic in the Petroleum Engineering Dept. in the Faculty of Engineering, University of Baghdad.

Ahmed K. Hassan, Senior Engineer, Petroleum R&D Center, Ministry of Oil

Mr. Ahmed is a Ph.D. Candidate of Petroleum Engineering from the University of Baghdad, he received his BSc, MSc of Petroleum Engineering from the University of Baghdad with more than 10 years of experience in the Oil & Gas Industry, and he is a researcher in Upstream Research Dept. and have conducted many of research and studies in Petroleum R&D Center as well as he is the manager of PVT Unit.

Ali Nahi Abed, Senior Engineer, Petroleum R&D Center, Ministry of Oil

Mr. Ali holds a BSc degree in Petroleum Engineering, from the University of Baghdad and he is Alumni and Former Coach of Entrepreneurship, leadership, and Project Management from the United Nations Institute for Training and Research “UNITAR”, Japan with more than 10 years of experience in Oil & Gas Industry. He worked as Drilling Engineer for Iraqi Drilling Co. “IDC” and he worked for the Inspector General Office in the Ministry of Oil as an Inspector of Midland Oil Company as well as he was the manager of the Geology Unit in Petroleum R&D Center. Currently, he is the Manager of the Drilling unit in the same center.

Hasan Al Rawy, Social Media Marketing Manager, Al-Nabaa Co., Private Sector

Mr. Hasan is an MSc Candidate of Computer Science from the University of Technology, he received his BSc degree in Computer Science from the University of Technology and he worked in many private sector companies in the management of social activities and media coverage with more than 5 years of experience in Video Editing and Photographing. Currently, he is the Social Media Marketing Manager of Al-Nabaa Co. in Al Sinaa St. Baghdad, he directed more than 100 short Videos for the benefit of different companies. Mr. Al Rawy worked for the UNDP in Iraq as a volunteer Monteur and he is an experienced Short Film Maker
